Luxury Apartment: Designing a London Oasis at the Prince of Wales Drive London

In the heart of Battersea’s prestigious new Prince of Wales Drive development, Juliettes Interiors had the pleasure of completing the end-to-end interior design for this luxury apartment. This was to be a family home for our client, a UK native, living internationally. The vision, a serene sanctuary for them to return to when visiting friends and family in London. With an emphasis on comfort, elegance, and functionality. We transformed the newly developed contemporary space from an empty shell into a warm and inviting retreat that seamlessly blends luxury with homely charm. Our goal, to create a homely feel that meets the practical needs of their family. Yet also serves as a stylish and welcoming haven for memorable gatherings and cherished moments.

The Brief: Quiet Luxury – A Serene Getaway

For this project, our client, a UK native living internationally, sought to create a “home away from home” at their newly acquired luxury apartment in London. A central place for their visits to the UK to see friends and family. They envisioned a clean, bright, and open space perfect for hosting gatherings large and small. The desired aesthetic was one of quiet luxury—emphasising exquisite quality and craftsmanship, fine finishes and elegance without overtly flashy or extravagant elements. The space needed to be suitable for connecting and entertaining, while also providing a comfortable haven for relaxation and enjoying special moments. Our task was to balance these elements, creating a welcoming and sophisticated family home that embodies understated elegance.

Our award-winning interior design team collaborated closely with our clients to perfectly capture their vision for their two-bedroom apartment. Beyond discussing their desired elements and design ideas, we also had a virtual walk through of their current home. This gave us an additional visual understanding of their style, tastes, and themes. This comprehensive approach allowed us to create a truly personalised design inspiration for their luxury apartment. One that truly reflects our clients, who they are and how they want to live.

Design Inspiration: Colour Scheme

The design inspiration focused on achieving a cohesive look and feel throughout the apartment. With its proportions being on the more intimate side, it calls for a carefully curated colour palette to ensure a harmonious and inviting atmosphere.

The space includes a master or primary bedroom, guest bedroom, kitchen and dining areas, with living space plus a balcony and winter garden with views over Battersea and beyond into London. Drawing inspiration from our virtual walkthrough of their existing home, we noticed they had an affinity towards greens. This was featured in various guises throughout their current property. This led us to devise a colour scheme centred around mint green and subtle shades of green. Accented with white and gold to elevate and warm the interior. This thoughtful palette leans into the essence of quiet luxury, elegant but not overtly extravagant. Using a neutral and muted colour scheme to create the calm, serene environment they desire.

Design is in the Details: Fine Finishes, Big Impact

Our design style for their luxury apartment focusses on subtle, sophisticated details and high-end materials. Our interior design team pay meticulous attention to craftsmanship and finishing details that enhance the overall aesthetic. Every texture, finish, and material are carefully selected. These fine details are crucial to creating a timeless, refined feel that embodies the quiet luxury aesthetic our client desired. The visual inspiration we shared with the client favoured classic, yet contemporary, timeless designs over trendy or overly ornate styles.

Space Planning: Creating Functional Elegance

In the space planning phase for the apartment, we carefully considered the desired uses, including multigenerational needs, family gatherings, socialising, making memories, and relaxing. With the ultimate goal of creating that home-away-from-home feel that seamlessly accommodates these activities while ensuring comfort and functionality.

In luxury interior design, size doesn’t matter. This apartment, while more bijoux in its proportions, gave our designers to opportunity to focus on functional elegance. Combining beauty with practicality ensures the spaces are visually appealing and have an effortless flow throughout. Embracing a less-is-more approach means every piece of furniture must be exquisitely crafted, purposeful, and contribute to the overall harmony of the space.

As a new development, this apartment provided a blank canvas. Giving interior designers the exciting opportunity to define and create focal points. Defining features that accentuate the space’s potential. In the absence of existing architectural details, such as fireplaces, crown moulding or ceiling medallions, wall panelling or grand staircases, our designers strategically planned every element. From the placement of bespoke statement furniture to the eye-catching custom lighting design. Such as this breathtaking, bespoke feature wall. Tailored Luxury: With Bespoke Furniture

Incorporating bespoke luxury furniture allowed us to personalise and customise each piece to meet our client’s specific requirements. Ensuring effortless flow and fit within the spatial planning of the space. This approach maximised the space available within the apartment and gives it a unique character and style, specific to our client’s lifestyle and design aspirations.

Every piece was meticulously crafted to meet their exact specifications, resulting in a cohesive and harmonious living environment. Opting for bespoke furniture ensured that the items were exquisitely made, using high-end materials with sophisticated details. The overall ambience provides balance feeling natural and unpretentious. Allowing the quality and design of each element to speak for itself and a true expression of our client’s personality and vision, making their home truly one-of-a-kind.
